Unwanted individuals connecting to my speaker

AtTheCorner
Community Member

My family members have taken to playing annoying songs to the speaker in my room just to mess me. I've done everything I could and it seems like as long as they are on the same wifi network they can continue to connect to it through spotify as much as they like. The fact that there is no way to stop this is absurd. There must be a solution.

Hi @AtTheCorner

If they share your network they will be able to connect and share.

Hi folks,

@JillG & @winterblairs, thanks for helping out!

@AtTheCorner, you can try to contact your internet provider and ask them to create another SSID on your router so you can have your own connection. Once you have the new connection, just reset your device and set it up to the new network. Let me know how it goes.

Regards,

Nikki

there's a solution for your problem so don't worry. first, open your home app and select your google nest mini. second, click the settings icon and open "recognition & sharing", after you open it, turn off the "let others control your cast media ".

Unfortunately this does not work.

Sounds like that would work but my family has gotten bored of the bit so I won't be trying it for now.
