Very slow to respond

My Google Home Mini seems to take quite a while to respond. Mine is near the front door so sometimes I will ask the weather as I am getting ready to take the dog for a walk. (Sometimes the "feels like" temp is a lot colder so I want to know if I should bundle up more than I anticipate). I can get my coat and shoes on and put the leash on the dog before it responds. I can't really determine if this is a new issue because I used to have it in my son's room, then it was in a box for a while until I recently decided to give it a try again. I tried to look for an update but I don't know where to look. Are they just intentionally slowing these down to try to get you to buy a new one?

Hey vle045,

Thanks for visiting the Community.

Sorry to know that you're having issues with your Google Home Mini. A few questions: when did the issue start? How far is your Home Mini from your router? What is the current firmware version of your device?

Let's try these steps below:

  1. Move your Home Mini within 15-20 ft. away from the router to get enough signal from your network.
  2. Reboot your Home Mini and router by disconnecting them from the power source and leave them unplugged for 1 minute. Once done, plug them back one at a time with intervals.

Let me know how it goes.

Cheers,

Muddi

Sorry, I didn't see this at first.  It is already pretty close to the router.  It's been disconnected a few times already.

Hi vle045,

Thanks for the response. Since the distance between your Home Mini and your router is not the issue let’s go ahead and do a full reset to put it back to its factory setting then set it up as a new device. Once set up, observe if the response will improve. See the step below on how to reset your Home Mini.

Here’s how to do the reset,  press and hold the factory reset button located below the power cord on the bottom of your Google Home Mini. Look for a circle etched into the base. After 5 seconds, your Google Home Mini will begin the factory reset process. Continue to hold for about 10 seconds more until you hear a sound confirming your Google Home Mini is resetting.

Keep me posted.
