Voice recognition on nests not working at all

Patchouli73

We have a nest audio and a nest mini in different rooms of the house, linked to our shared Google account (1 of us on android, the other on apple). Mostly we only get "hmmm something went wrong, try again in a few seconds". Possibly after 4 attempts it gives us an answer, but not always. Massively frustrating at Google assistant always works flawlessly on my pixel phone. I've reset all devices, deleted and readded the home, tried all I can but nothing seems to get the assistant on the nest speakers working

Hello Patchouli73,

Thanks for visiting our Community.

We're sorry to hear that you're experiencing that with your Google Nest speakers. To start with, could you tell us what steps you have tried before reaching out? Let's sort things out by answering these questions:

  • How far are these Google Nest speakers from the router?
  • To what commands are these speakers answer the same way?
  • Does it happen on a specific command or questions?

Let's try to perform first to reboot your devices, simply by unplugging the speakers and the router from the power source for a few minutes. After that, plug it back in and let's see if this would make any changes to its behavior.

Let me know how it goes.

Best,

Princess

Yes! Have tried all of the above steps before I posted on the forum.

I also see that there is at least one more new post regarding the same problem since I commented last.

So it seems like this is a problem google must look into.

Hi schytters,

Thanks for confirming. You can try to retrain your voice and observe if it makes a difference. Also, if possible, try to set up your device using another network and observe if you will get a different experience. Lastly, could you provide us with your device's firmware version? Check out the steps below on how to get it:

  1. Make sure your mobile device or tablet is linked to the same account as your speaker or display.
  2. Open the Google Home app Google Home app.
  3. Tap your device's tile.
  4. At the top right, tap Settings and then Device information.
  5. Under "Technical information," find Cast firmware: X.XXX.XXXXX.

Thanks,

Juni
