Hi community,
In Portugal, Google Nest products (speakers, hubs, etc.) are already being sold officially in almost every major store. However, when we test them, we quickly realize that there is still no proper support for Portuguese. This ends up forcing many of us to rely on Alexa — which ironically isn’t even officially sold here, only through smart home resellers.
What doesn’t make sense is the inconsistency across Google products:
On smartphones (Pixel, Android, etc.) we have PT-PT.
On Nest speakers there’s only PT-BR.
On Nest Hub there isn’t even Portuguese at all, only EN.
If PT-PT is not ready yet, the very least would be to have PT-BR available across all devices, so that we can have a consistent experience.
In my case, I already own several Google ecosystem devices: Pixel phones, Google Home, Nest speakers, Chromecast, TVs, etc. But the lack of proper Portuguese support makes the experience limited and frustrating.
So my question is: Is there any timeline or plan for the official release of European Portuguese support (PT-PT) on Google Home / Nest devices?
Otherwise, I’ll seriously have to consider migrating my entire setup to iPhone / Alexa, because the current situation is far from what we’d expect from a product officially sold in our market.
Thanks in advance for any clarification.

Hello @andresilva05,
Thank you for posting in the community and sharing your detailed feedback. I understand your concern about the lack of official support in Portuguese (Portugal) for your Nest and Google Home devices, especially since they are officially sold in your country. I also appreciate you highlighting your experience with other Google products, such as your Pixel phone; it's an excellent point.
I want to help you and let you know that as a Community Specialist, I do not have access to product development timelines or release schedules. I cannot provide an official date or a plan for when European Portuguese support (PT-PT) will be available.
However, I can assure you that our product teams highly value feedback from our users. Your voice is crucial in helping us understand what features are most important and what needs to be prioritized. The feedback you have provided is exactly the kind of information our teams need to make a case for expanding language support.
The best way to ensure your feedback is seen by the right people is to submit it directly through the Google Home app.

I understand that this is important for our users; please know that your feedback is heard and is very important to us.

They WON'T!!!
Google GAVE UP on PORTUGAL!!!
The most frustrating thing is that they REMOVED ALL GOOGLE NEST devices from shops in Portugal!
NO MORE google Nest in Portugal!
Why?? Because they could not bring the PT-PT language!
And why do we really need a PT-PT language??? Just assume the same PT-BR language and you're good to GO in Portugal!
PT is PORTUGUESE! PT-BR is PORTUGUESE with Brazilian accent a few regional nonsenses that we can deal with!
So... NO... Google is NOT going to bring the PT-PT language. If they were, they would have not pulled out the the Portuguese (PORTUGAL) market!!!

And now we have the Gemini ordeal!
I thought that the launch of the Gemini for HOME would clean up the total MESS / BUGS / PROBLEMS that we users are suffering with for years now!
But... I've seen the latest NEWS following the Google Home APP "Gemini is coming soon..." and now it's clear!!!
Only available (for now) on the USA with a $10 MONTLHY subscription!!!
Sure... Are you going to apply those values to EUROPE??? Nonsense! We don't make 100.000 a YEAR!
So... no plans to give access to Gemini through the NEST Speakers of existing users with no subscription??

I agree that Google no longer considers Portugal/Brazil (over 200 million inhabitants).
But it's not true that it stopped selling in Portugal. It's available in all stores, as always. In fact, when I bought my speakers, there were only one or two places, and now there are dozens.

I don't want to call you a "liar", and before i do, i would like you to LIST here the STORES in Portugal that are still selling Google NEST devices (and what are those devices!)
I bought mine Google Nest devices in Worten 2 years ago, and few months ago i saw the stock was depleted on the stores. Asked the person in charge of one store, that called the GOOGLE REP, and the answer was: GOOGLE IS NO LONGER SELLING google nest products in PORTUGAL because we didn't comply with the "promise" that the PT-PT "support" was launching soon! (that was written in a sticker on every Google Nest product sold in Portugal)
Other stores have ZERO STOCK for months!!!, those include:
- MEDIA MARKT (now bought by DARTY)
- RÁDIO POPULAR
- EL CORTE INGLES
Amongst others!
Any Portuguese store that sells these devices have them in stock for a long time OR buy them from other suppliers other than Google.

In the past two years, yes, it’s been possible. When I bought mine, it was still the 1st generation, about five years ago, and back then it was really hard to find. The few stores that had them sold them at a very high price because they were imported — I paid €25 for the Nest and €50 for the Nest Hub, online. Later on, around two or three years ago, I bought more Nest devices at a physical Youget store here in Leiria, which still keeps them in stock.
As for availability, I was actually at the Worten store in Leiria just yesterday, and they still had them for sale. It’s possible that some places have removed them from stock, but here in Leiria at least, they still had them — even the cameras, doorbells, nests, etc., all powered by Google.

That specific Worten (local) store still has them in stock. That's about it!
If you go on other stores, you probably won't find any!
If you go ONLINE, you can't find ANYTHING of the Google Nest ecosystem (except the DOOR BELL!)
They removed everything from Google because google is not selling to Portugal anymore and they would have to buy from other reseller from another country (well, Worten could do that from the Spanish branches, but they don't)

Well, the Worten store probably isn’t interested. As for me, I’ve never bought any products to integrate with my Home Assistant in Worten.
When it comes to physical stores, I usually only buy from Mauser and Youget, as they offer the best discounts, such as during Black Friday and other promotions

Worten
MediaMarkt
Rádio Popular
El Corte Ingles
and many many other stores!
It's a GOOGLE decision, and these stores don't want to "import" through another channel other than Google.
