Where is my phone (asking Google home)

Azazel

I sometimes loose my phone around the house. I remember being able to ask my Google speaker, where my phone was.

Maybe the problem started when I switched from Samsung to a pixel phone.

I say " hey Google where is my phone"

It doesn't do anything until I actually find my phone. I unlock it.... And then it starts buzzing.

Can I do something about that? (I have a pixel 8,fully updated)

Hi Azazel,

Thanks for posting in our community.

I understand that you were able to ask your Google speaker to find your phone when you lost it around your house, but when you switched from your Samsung to your Pixel 8 mobile, you couldn’t have the mobile response until you unlocked it. Don’t worry, help is here.

To better assist you, I would appreciate it if you answered the following questions:

  • Is your Pixel 8 phone linked to the same Google Account as your Google speaker?
  • Is the “Location” option enabled on your Pixel 8 phone?
  • Is the “Find My Device” option turned on? You can check in this Google Account Help Center article for more information: Be ready to find a lost Android device.

In the meantime, I recommend you check if you can find your Pixel 8 phone on Google Play:

  1. On a browser, go to https://play.google.com/library/devices.
  2. Sign in with the same Google Account as the one linked in the Google Home app. (Only if your browser is already signed in to the correct Google Account.). To make sure that you have the correct Google Account, follow these instructions:
    • Click or tap the account (display photo).
    • If the screen shows a different or incorrect Google Account, tap or click “Switch account,” then select the correct account, or if the account doesn’t show on the list, select “Use another account.”
  3. Under “Show in Menus,” make sure the checkbox for the device (the phone you want to locate) has a check. Click or tap the checkbox to put or remove a check.

Please keep me posted.

Best regards,

Virna
