Why does google respond with voice even if I mute it?

When I ask to see my calendar I expect to see my calendar. I don't expect a bunch of rambling. I want to turn off all voice activity. What is so hard about that? It's been years. TURN OFF THE VOICE RESPONSES!

Yes, I do need help. Please. How can I turn off the google voice responses to generic requests, such as “what is my calendar?” and “turn off the air purifier.”

Hi yeahiknow3,

Could you please provide the exact commands that you have tried as well as its exact response? I'd also like to check if this is what you are referring:

  1. Make sure your mobile device or tablet is connected to the same Wi-Fi network or linked to the same account as your speaker or display.
  2. Open the Google Home app Google Home app.
  3. Touch and hold your device's tile.
  4. At the top right, tap Settings and then Accessibility.
  5. If you want your device to play a sound only after you say "Hey Google," turn on the toggle On next to Play start sound, and leave the Play end sound slider off Off.
  6. If you want your device to play a sound after you say "Hey Google" and after Assistant stops to listen, turn on the toggle On next to Play start sound, and Play end sound On.

Let me know how it goes.

Best,

Princess

I’m guessing this is an automated response? You know very well that the Nest Hub Max vocally responds to every command, regardless of whether it has been muted, except requests to turn off a light.

I have already listed several examples of such commands, including requests to see the calendar, requests to set the nest thermostats, requests to turn on devices (other than lights).

If you have a Nest Hub nearby, you can try it yourself.

Hi yeahiknow3,

Thanks for clarifying.

Right now, there are no settings available to turn off those responses except when using lights. While this feature is not yet available, we want to encourage you to send feedback from your end and we’re hoping for all the possibilities by taking our user’s feedback and suggestions. You can follow the steps on this link.
