Why does the help page instruct me to press buttons that don't exist to change network information?

The instructions to change network settings say that to press the settings gear icon to get to the settings screen of the "device tile". Except there is no settings gear on the device tile. So how does google expect anyone to change their network settings when there's no way to get to them?

Also, wouldn't it be about 50 times easier and smarter to just let us access the network settings directly on the display? It's a great big touch screen and it lists the network information right there - just let us change the network details right there on the device instead of messing about with a phone app!

If you've already changed to a different Wi-Fi network, you may not see the settings cog. To change certain settings, your display needs to still be connected to Wi-Fi.

Try these steps:

  1. Open the Google Home app.
  2. At the bottom, tap Devices > + Add > New device.
  3. Follow the in-app steps.

If these steps above don’t solve the issue, you’ll need to factory reset your speaker or display, then set it up again using your new Wi-Fi network and password.

Instead of factory resetting your speaker or display, if you're comfortable changing your router settings, you can change your new Wi-Fi network name and password in your router's settings to be the same as the previous ones. Your device should then automatically connect to the Wi-Fi.
