Hi there, 🙂
I no longer have a tv with an google chrome cast system set up on it. I recently purchased my Google nest. Now the assistant says through the speaker says I can't ask Google to play music through YouTube without this TV setup. I have YouTube Premium. I can cast to the speaker using my phone from the music app, but all routines or questions using music spit the same response out. Is someone able to help me? This is the main reason I got the speaker, and will look to return it if I am unable to fix this.

This is correct, you can not play a video on a Google audio only device.

Hahaha. Sorry about my wording. YouTube Music Premium. It won't play YouTube music premium.

Hi folks,
@kiltguy2112, thanks for the help.
@ashlulu, we're sorry to hear that you're not able to play YouTube Music using your Nest speaker ― let's check it out. A few questions: what Nest speaker do you have there? What is the exact command and response you receive when playing YTM? It would help a lot if you could do a sequential reboot to refresh all settings. Unplug the power cord from your router followed by your Nest speaker. Plug them back in after 3 minutes. Restarting your phone might also help.
Keep us posted.
Best,
Dan

Hi there Dan,
It resolved the initial issue with a factory reset. 🙌 Thank you. It says YouTube Music Premium is not available in my country (Zambia) when I ask it to play music. However, YouTube Music is working on my phone and let's me cast to the speaker. I just cannot ask the speaker to play music.
Still having problems with the Bluetooth saying it's connected to my computer but then not playing audio from my computer.
I have the Nest Home Mini.
Thank you for assistance, Dan.

Hi ashlulu,
It was a pleasure helping you out. Also, it would seem like we now have an answer as to why your YouTube Music Premium is not working, due to unavailability in your country.
For confirmation, do you want to cast music from your computer to your Nest Mini via Bluetooth?
I'll be waiting for your response.
Thanks,
Dan

Correct. Each time, the speaker it says it is connected to my computer. However, it doesn't show as connected on my computers side, or connects briefly and disconnects. My computer connects with no problem to other speakers. Restarted the computer and device. Tried forgetting the speaker's Bluetooth connection to the computer and reconnect. Still the same.
Same with casting audio from my phone home app. Says it's connected, but no sound comes through. Volume is up. Restarted and all.
Dude. I'd probs just return this and get a normal speaker.

Hey there,
For us to get a better idea, your Google Home Mini runs on the Bluetooth® 4.1 version. Are you able to check your computer's Bluetooth version? We might get answers since compatibility is needed and the function should work if your computer has the same or higher version as your Google Home Mini. It would really help us to isolate your concern.
Kind regards,
Dan

Pairing with your smart TV or streaming device
1. Make sure your smart TV or streaming device is set up and the YouTube app is open.
2. On your phone or tablet, open the YouTube app.
3. Make sure you’re signed in to the same Google Account on both devices.
4. A pop-up will open on your phone or tablet, asking you to connect to YouTube on your TV.
5. Tap Connect.
If you don’t get a pop-up, or you accidentally dismiss it, connect using Cast or TV code.
6. The video player will open in the app on your phone or tablet, showing that you’re connected to your TV or streaming device.
Unpairing from your smart TV or streaming device
1. Tap Cast "".
2. Then tap DISCONNECT.
Hope This Works,
Peter
