YouTube TV app is not working with Google nest mini and voice commands

YouTube TV app is not working with Google nest mini and voice commands. The Google nest mini says "YouTube TV isn't installed in the moment." However, YouTube TV works when I use the remote.

All of my other apps work with voice command (i.e. prime video, Netflix, YouTube etc.)

Same problem here, after rebooting and resetting devices to no avail.  I submitted feedback and no followup.  This was working just fine until 4 days ago

I'm glad you sent the feedback, I hope they take this issue seriously.  Its crazy to me that something like this can happen and it takes days to resolve.  I would think something could simply be rolled back on the back end.

Hello, having the exact same issue here, started Monday morning in the US.  I called into YTTV support Tuesday (gave them 24 hours to address) and we troubleshooted a lot of things including factory resetting 2 of my Chromecast with Google TVs, sending feedback from both Youtube TV app on CCwGTV and from Home app.  Nothing worked.  

Later Tuesday they emailed me essentially saying this was not their problem, to reach out to Nest Support.  I was able to do that finally today, but they said it was a Youtube TV issue.  Luckily I had the email from them, sent the nest support guy a screenshot of the email where they say it was a nest issue.  He told me to send feedback again from CCwGTV YTTV app which I did, and from the home app, which I did.

LOOOOOOOONG story short, this clearly seems like a bug to me, considering the commands we are using are built into routines and have worked for years, but nobody is owning up to anything.  I have no timelines or assurance from anybody.  I told the support guy that it was unfortunate that I have to go onto forum to make progress with this, but I see no other option than being a "squeaky wheel".

I know we cannot be alone, I urge all that are having this issue to reach out to nest support and submit their "feedback" so this issue can be resolved like it should have been within minutes.

I found out that you have to say the program's name instead of the channel (Watch Jimmy Fallon on YouTube TV on "device name"). Which is really frustrating. I can't open the guide because I am a quadriplegic so I don't even know what is showing. How am I supposed to know what program is currently airing? I need to be able to change the channel by voice to a specific channel not just a specific program.

I have an update also, I received this from YouTube TV support this morning after I had to submit a video of the issue; 

 

I just got an update from our specialist and confirmed that they found similar reported issues from other customers and our Engineering team is currently investigating. We're working to fix the issue as quickly as possible, and will follow up with you as soon as we have an update.

Thanks for posting in the community. 
I understand the frustration of encountering difficulties with controlling YouTube TV using your Google Nest Mini. It's particularly puzzling that other apps like Prime Video and Netflix work as expected. I'm also aware that you have already reported the issue, so I would like to know if you have any case numbers you can share with me and ask if there is an update. 

To help me investigate this issue further, please provide the following information:

  • YouTube TV App Version: Please provide the version of the YouTube TV app you're using.
  • Network Setup: Are you using Wi-Fi or Ethernet for both your Nest Mini and the device running the YouTube TV app?
  • What troubleshooting steps have you already tried? 
  • Do you have a case number? 

I recommend trying these additional troubleshooting steps:

  1. Clear the cache and data of the YouTube TV app. Clear the cache and data of the YouTube TV app.
  2. Unlink and re-link YouTube TV: In the Google Home app, unlink and re-link your YouTube TV account.
  3. Check for updates: Ensure your Nest Mini and YouTube TV apps are running the latest software versions.
  4. Restart Devices: Power cycle both your Nest Mini and the device running the YouTube TV app.

I've already done all these things and been told that there is an issue being looked into but have not gotten any more information then that. Can you provide any information if I give you the case number I have with support?

Jorge, did you see my response yet?  Apologies, I know you just posted yesterday but this issue has been going on for weeks so I feel its appropriate to ask.

This is an ongoing issue that needs to be resolved.  Above, you ask us to do things, and it is fair that we do the same.  As I mentioned, I did all these troubleshooting steps and more with support and have the case to prove it.  

Now, can you do anything for us?  Can you get us an update regarding this resolution?  Can you provide information on how we will be compensated for a service you are not providing?  These are reasonable questions, and I am will to discuss over the phone.

Please do, clearly there are many waiting for an update. It's been longer than a reasonable amount of time we have been waiting.

@ovidioj I am in full support of @mwpeters and have the exact same situation. All of the troubleshooting steps have been tried over and over again and countlessly failed, for weeks and weeks now. @mwpeters @Ryan_1 @maedacortez @Ks891 have all been brave enough to speak up and ask for help! We are following all of your instructions to no avail.

Want to also report I have been having this issue after YouTube TV voice commands were going swimmingly for months. I've tried everything from new commands and routines to factory resetting all of my best minis and signing in and out of my YouTube TV account numerous times, checking the Wi-Fi connection and frequency of l devices; available nothing is working to fix this issue. And let me say too, it's a REAL pain in the a$$ to be trying to fix this every single day without any success and no answers from Google about it.

It is unbelievable how Google doesn't seem to care about this issue. I wish there was a way to make it hurt them in the wallet, but they're to big so that will never happen. The ONLY reason I bought my 2nd gen nest mini was to control YTTV with my voice. This POS hasn't worked since I took it out of the box 8 months ago. I have Fire TV, so I'm not sure why I'm even bothereing with this worthless hockey puck

I have also been having this problem for months! Is there any fix announced yet? we only have this problem on Google TV with Remote, the regular Chromecasts do not have this problem.

This has been a consistent problem for me for the last four months that my best minis do not accept commands for YouTube TV on my Google TV nor channel commands. Has this been fixed yet?? All troubleshooting steps have been taken and then some countless times for months to try and get this fixed. GOOGLE, PLEASE FINALLY HELP!!!

Google is no longer making new Chromecast 4K or HD dongles, but will remain selling them until inventory runs out. They will continue to be updated, with the latest release coming this week, and Android 14 arriving later this year. The re-elevation on the Google Store suggests the Chromecast will still be around for a bit after the Streamer.
