Whenever I try to launch YouTube tv, either y voice or clicking app button, it doesn't open. Instead assistant says I heard "open YouTube tv" and gives options, but none of them actually open YouTube tv. This has been ongoing for awhile, tried unplugging but didn't fix.

Hi Newenglander,
Thanks for posting and for being a step ahead of us. and sorry for the late response.
I know how it feels when something isn’t working as it should, so let’s get this resolved. A few things: have you tried using another video service to further isolate the issue? Do you have other Nest displays? If so, is it happening to them too?
Looking forward to your response.
Keep me posted.
Thanks,
Juni

I'm having three same problem on Lenovo and JBL displays. You tube TV is gone from the media tab

Hey Kenthebyrdman,
To confirm, do you have a Nest display? What country are you located in? Also, have you tried reaching out with your speaker manufacturer to check if they are getting similar reports.

It now loads YouTube tv when I say " hey google open (a specific channel) on YouTube tv"....but it still does the above (screenshot) when I swipe up and hit the YouTube tv app button on the display.

Hi
Thanks for updating us. Could you please try the steps on this link? We'd like to make sure that we've covered all the bases before trying other steps.

Yes, that above has been done. YouTube tv now plays with specific voice commands (ie. Play CNN on YouTube tv) but it still does not open when you press the application icon when you swipe up on the display or say "open YouTube tv" which previously brought up the guide to pick a channel from. It still comes up with that above message in the screenshot from Google assistant when you do either of those things. The above worked until a few weeks ago. Not sure if YouTube tv no longer supports this on nest devices or if the feature broke during an update. Pressing the app icon on the nest display or saying open YouTube tv doesn't work on any of my nest devices with screens anymore.

The YouTube TV card is completely gone from my display as of 12/22/2022. Voice commands do not launch YT either. The only way I can use it is to cast from another device.
I am able to duplicate this issue accross 10 Google display Hub and Hub max. The issue has affected all of them on the same day, which leads me to think it's obviously not an isolated device issue.

YouTube TV is not working on Nest Hub or my original Google Home Hub.
12-26-2022 07:47 PM
I have the same issue with my hub max.
12-26-2022 08:39 PM
I am in the US and the devices are running 1.56.32.4896 (Hub) and 1.63.324740 (Hub Max). YT cards have completely disappeared but I am able to dictate a channel to invoke on the screen with a command like "Play CBS on youtube tv".
Previously, all the previous searches would show up as a YT TV card under the Media menu tab. As of last week, it only shows YouTubr and YouTube Music. YouTube TV is no longer there.

Has there been a fix to why YouTube TV doesn’t work On my nest home hub max
12-28-2022 04:15 PM
I have the same problem that started on or about 12/20/2022. I thought it was because I changed my Google password for security reasons. I was on YTTV chat for hours yesterday for this problem. The last I was told to do was unplug all hubs, unplug router, wait 2 minutes, plug router in. Wait for internet to be available, plug in hubs. I did hubs one at a time, checking if YTTV would behave as in the past; first hub gave same error message, second, ditto as the third also. I’ve wasted much time on this and am clearly agitated. Even my dog avoids me. If you can’t help me, help my dog!

Hey there – I am new to this community, and new to the Google Nest Hub Max.
I think it has great potential, but I am noticing a few glitches myself that I think are common on this thread.
First, I am also noticing the exact same behavior as Newenglander above when I attempt to click on the YouTube TV icon:
Secondly, when I click on Netflix, and YouTube, I get a voice response that says
“Sorry, I don’t know where to play the video, please tell me the exact name of the screen”
Its almost as if my Google Nest Hub Max itself doesn’t recognize itself as the screen that executes these icons?
I am running in the US
⦁ Fuchsia Version: 8.20220713.2.194059
⦁ Software version: 49.57.36.477782712
⦁ Chromecast firmware version: 1.63.324740

@mandolin - I think these issues you pointed out are related to the existing issues that some of us are experiencing.
I have used Google displays since 2018 and have upgraded to the latest models. These particular issues appear to pop up every now and then throughout the product's evolution. In all cases, they were all related to the firmware versions. It seems that as a new update would come on board, it would seemingly break something previously working. The only way to resolve these issues is for users to post their experiences on boards like this. Otherwise, it may go noticed for quite some time.

I have what may be related issues - Nest Hub Max, just purchased over Xmas. Spent some time with tech support on the phone earlier but with no success. During that call we did a factory reset/set up like new and renamed the device from "Kitchen Display" to "Hub Max" in the event that the word "Kitchen" was confusing the device as there is a "Kitchen Light" and a "Kitchen Roku" in the Google Home bubble.
The issue, or one of the issues: Tapping the icons for the Netflix, YTTV or YT services pulls up the remote for my "Kitchen Roku". I initially removed the Roku and it then wanted to open those apps on the "Living Room Roku". I then uninstalled all the Rokus in the house and was able to pull up the app on the actual device. Upon reinstalling the Rokus, the problem resumed. This occurred with the voice command to "show me YouTube Tv" or "show me what's on YouTube Tv" and etc.
My default display is set to "Hub Max". However, if I say "Play Wednesday on Netflix on Hub Max" it says "I need to know the name of the display you want". OR, worse, it will respond with a long description of how I can link services in my Google Home account. All services have already been linked. And then unlinked for troubleshooting. And then linked again.
Which brings me to another question - my understanding of the Nest Hub Max is that it has native support for Hulu and Disney+ but I do not see icons for those services, or any indication that they are available. I only know this from researching the problem stated above. However, I WAS able to successfully pull up Disney+ on the Hub Max by asking it to "Play Mandalorian on Disney+"...
All in all, there seems to be no consistent pattern here, other than the continuous issue of tapping the YT, Netflix, or YTTV icons and having them default the display to the first Roku it sees. Or, having the device get confused when I tell it to play something on itself.
The tech support agent I spoke with seemed baffled by the situation and our inability to resolve it. He went off several times to consult with senior tech agents, and it appears nobody knows anything about this issue. If it is actually the update causing this, I will actually be relieved as I thought there was something I totally screwed up, or the unit is defective.
If this does not belong in this thread, my apologies. The symptoms described by the users above do seem to relate, at least in my mind.

For as long as I have had my displays, I have never been able to consistently stream third party-apps; such as Netflix, Hulu, etc., directly on the displays. I can confirm that I have the same experience that you have, where the display casts the video service to another display (of its own choosing).
Regarding having to hard reset your devices, I would suggest you challenge the representative to explain the logic behind their suggestions. Often time, they are just going down a list of hard-coded troubleshooting steps that may not apply to your specific issue. It's important to identify whether an issue you are experiencing is a software version bug, versus a random glitch that requires a reset.
I make the point to reproduce the issues across all my devices. I currently have six active Hub Max displays and five active 2nd-gen hubs. I have been asked to reset every single one of them when I run into an issue. However, I implore the agents to invoke logic into their line of reasoning by raising the question of whether they truly believe it's likely that 11 devices so happen to have experienced the same minor glitch on the same day, and that a factory reset would make the issue go away.
12-30-2022 08:33 AM
That's definitely a good practice- to find the patterns and to challenge the formulaic troubleshooting steps.
But I only have one display - and I've only had it for three days now. I am no technical guru, but I would think that launching a Google-owned native app from a Google screen by touching it is a pretty basic piece of functionality. I'll even give Google a pass for 3rd party apps like Disney + and Hulu, since, at some level, compatibility is beyond Google's control.
But Google owned services like YouTube and YouTube TV? Seems like it should be pretty standard stuff.
@Muddi- sounds like it is a known issue, so I will standby and continue to monitor this thread for any remediations that may come to light.
...and thanks all for validating that this not a PEBKAC situation!

I'm experiencing the same issue. YouTube TV is not working. nor any of the other streaming services aside from Youtube. Just opened the box for the device today but I think I'm going to return it. I also experienced the issue with not being able to swipe left from the right side but found a fix in another thread for that.
01-05-2023 06:00 PM
I've read all of the posts above. Tried all of the suggested fixes. Same build. Same units. Same issue as everyone else. Card is no longer available for channel selection. But if you specify exactly to open YouTube TV or Netflix or Hulu to play a certain channel/movie/show and for it to play on that specific device, it works. Really really miss the card and channel selection. Happened to me right before Christmas. (Unsure specific date). Bad thing it was right in the heart of bowl season. I tend to agree it has to be done update. Really hope they get this resolved.

Hey somperson,
Which country are you located in? To confirm, are you able to watch videos or shows on your Nest display when you say a specific title on a video service like Netflix? What are the steps that you've tried so far?

Is there any guidance on when a fix for this will be released?
01-20-2023 11:28 AM
I'm in the same place with the card for YouTubeTV no longer appearing. But I also have one other issue that occured at the same time. My nest hub is named kitchen display, and the hub on receiving a voice command to play youtubetv on kitchen display tells me that it doesn't recognize that device name. I have looked in my settings. The device is still named kitchen display and linked to my account. My assistant settings does not list YouTube , YouTube music, and YouTube tv as options to link. I don't remember if that was integrated before now. It does list YouTube kids as an option, which I don't have.
01-20-2023 01:50 PM
Every time I click on the YouTube TV app it tells me it doesn't know where to play the video. It has been doing this for months and is extremely frustrating. I have reset the unit, removed it, disconnected it from the household, added it back... Nothing works. You would think they would resolve this issue since it is their streaming platform.
01-21-2023 05:43 AM
I bought the Google Nest Hub today and it’s exactly the same for me. The Netflix and Sling apps don’t work. It says stuff like “I don’t know where to play this video”. It’s infuriating and needs to be resolved.
