google home mini can't connect to mobile hotspot AT LAST STEP

hi. recently lost my home internet/wifi, and I'm now using my phone's hotspot for my desktop computer, laptop, and to stream/cast to 2 tvs. I've also connected a Lenovo clock to the hotspot.

I'm using another phone to setup - both semi-new samsung galaxys.

feels like I'm at the last step of connecting this gh mini because I've already passed the sound part where the google home app and the mini already recognized each other. I've agreed to the legal terms, agreed to help improve, selected the room.. it's the wifi part where it won't connect/communicate. I can see the signal symbol blink away 1-2x then the ! exclamation comes on - like, it decides to connect to GoogleHomexxxx instead of the hotspot.

I've reset the device. unplugged it for several hours. restarted the mobile hotspot phone. entered the wifi pw manually. automatically gotten it from the phone. nada. still can't communicate.

please help.

thanks.

Hi littleoldal,

That certainly hasn't been easy for you. Let’s further look into it. Have you tried to switch the phone used as the setup device and the hotspot device? If not, give it a try.
