Using two Home Mini speakers. Each is connected to the same 2.4G network, each
is in the Kitchen room, the physical speakers and android phone (also connected
to the same 2.4G network) running the Home app are all within 10 feet of each
other. The two speakers involved are named Kitchen speaker and Kitchen speaker
2. In the Home app chose Kitchen speaker device, then the Settings icon (cog),
then Audio, then Stereo Pair. I paired Kitchen speaker with Kitchen speaker 2,
set Kitchen speaker as Left channel, accepted default name “Kitchen pair”.
Done.
Using VLC on my laptop (also connected to same 2.4G network), chose to cast to
Kitchen pair. Played Beatles “Come Together”. Result is half stereo sound.
Kitchen speaker plays the left channel sound, but no sound comes from Kitchen
speaker 2. Using Kitchen pair eqaulizer, if the slider is centered, Kitchen
speaker makes sound and Kitchen speaker 2 remains silent. If I move the slider
so it is over the R, Kitchen speaker makes no sound and Kitchen speaker 2
remains silent. As I move the slider toward L, Kitchen speaker makes more and
more sound. So, Kitchen speaker is receiving left channel stereo bits and is
playing them, but Kitchen speaker 2 is either receiving right channel stereo
bits and not playing them or is not receiving the right channel stereo bits.
I installed VLC app on my phone. Did same test. Got same results.
My phone is running Android 8.0.0.
Kitchen pair device info shows this:
Left speaker:
System firmware version: 375114
Cast firmware: 2.57.375114
Language: English (United States)
MAC address: 48 D6 D5 E6 3C B2
Country code: US
IP address: 192.168.1.184
Right speaker:
System firmware version: 375114
Cast firmware: 2.57.375114
Language: English (United States)
MAC address: E4 F0 42 2D 2B 31
Country code: US
IP address: 192.168.1.185
I'd like stereo to work.

Hi folks,
Thanks for posting. I know how it feels when something isn’t working as it should. A few questions: when did it begin? When you use another app to cast the music, are you getting the same experience? How about when you use voice commands to play music?
I look forward to your response.

Juni

I don't use mine much I believe it happened after the last firmware update. Some time in November. It was being strange like described above. I unpaired and repaired once and it work we d momentarily then no sounds from the right speaker in any app whatsoever. Did a factory reset no sound during the factory reset and no sound afterwards at all the speaker reacts to my voice but just makes no sound. Don't understand why it's impossible.to.roll.firmwqre back if you have an issue

False alarm. My mistake. Sorry to waste everyone's time.
I asked the home mini “Hey google play Come Together by the Beatles”. The pair of speakers played the song and played it in stereo. The drums are mostly in the right channel in that song. I used the equalizer to silence the right channel, then the drums were almost completely silent. I set the equalizer slider to center, then could hear the drums as expected. Mea culpa.
Referring now to my original post, apparently the bug is in VLC.
