Can I connect a google nest audio smart speaker to my iPhone using Bluetooth or hotspot. I have no home WIFI. Just want to play audio through it.

Hey there,

I wanted to follow up and see if you are still in need of any help. Have you had the chance to try the suggestion above? If yes, how is it?

Warmly,
Alex

No unfortunately, it won't work off of a hotspot as it needs to be a permanent connection

Hi everyone,

Thanks for the input, @harleycat.

@Clock14, our Google Nest Audio device is a WiFi dependent device. It always needs to be connected to the WiFi for it to work. Though you can connect it to the Hotspot, you may experience issues with its functionality, as the Hotspot is not a stable connection.

To connect Google Nest Audio to your iPhone’s Hotspot, you need to have 2 set up devices:

  • The first phone will act as a router. Enable its Cellular data and Hotspot.
  • Connect a second device to the Hotspot. This will be used for the Google Home app set up.
    • Open the Google Home app > Follow the instructions on how to set up the device.
    • Choose the Hotspot network on the “Connect to WiFi” page > Finish the set up.

If there’s anything else I can help you with, please let me know.

Kind regards,
Alex

Trial an error. Found out that it only needs WiFi to originally connect then it works perfectly well with Bluetooth only. So set up using son’s home wifi. The returned to my place working perfectly. Although I still have figured out how to get music to play through both speakers at the same time. Creating a group didn’t work but I’ll keep working on i, maybe it is possible.

Hi Clock14,

I appreciate your effort that you put into this. Connecting a speaker group may require a stable Wi-Fi connection for it to work. Here are the things you need to consider: https://goo.gle/3StlBzO

Let me know if you have additional questions and I'd be happy to answer it.

Best,

Princess
