"Camera feed is not available" from Nest Cam Outdoor

For a year or more my Nest Cam Outdoor cameras displayed  just fine on my Google Nest Hubs. For some months now, they are visible for a few minutes at most and then I see the message "Camera feed is not available" on my Nest Hubs. Is there a solution to this problem?

Hey wireless925,

Thanks for sharing details about the issue here. My apologies for the late response.

I know how important it is for you to be able to stream your Nest Outdoor camera on your Google Nest Hub. Let's get to the bottom of this. To confirm, are you able to stream your Nest camera from the native and Google Home app? Are there other people streaming the camera on other devices at the same time? How far are your devices from your router? Does the same thing happen when you use the Google Assistant app on your phone? Also, what are the steps that you've done so far?

Looking forward to your response.

Cheers,

Muddi

Are you able to stream your Nest camera from the native and Google Home app?

Yes. I can see both cameras with no interruptions on my phone using either the Nest app or the Home app.

Are there other people streaming the camera on other devices at the same time?

Just me here at home on two different Google Nest Hubs in two different rooms.

How far are your devices from your router?

About 20 feet.

Does the same thing happen when you use the Google Assistant app on your phone?

When I verbally ask my assistant to stream either of my cameras, I see the camera stream on the Nest Hub, but after a few minutes (the time varies), the Hub loses the stream and I see the words “Camera feed is not available“ on the Hub.

My Nest Hub can also display two Wyze cameras in my home. These cameras are about the same distance from my router. When I select either of these cameras to stream on my Nest Hub, they do and NEVER drop out like my Nest cameras do. My Nest cameras displayed perfectly on my Hub for more than a year, and then one day, without me making any changes to my home network, the dropout problem began on both cameras on both Nest Hubs. I believe both of my Nest Hubs are Gen. 1.

Hey wireless925,

Thanks for the details.

Could you try resetting your Google Nest Hub to its default settings? Also, can we have the cast firmware and software version of your Nest Hub?

Best,

Alex

Hello Alex,

Taking your suggestions, I reset my Nest Hub to factory default. Then I installed it using the Home app on my Pixel phone.

System firmware: 6.20211109.1.3166240

Cast firmware: 1.60.305621

Results: After about 15 minutes, the Nest camera feed on the Next Hub dropped out and was replaced by the words “Camera feed is not available.” In other words, no improvement.

During these 15 minutes I was also watching the camera feed on the Nest app on my phone. It did not drop out.

It would appear that the problem is related to the Nest Hub interfacing with my Nest cam. Again, when I view my Wyze camera on my Nest Hub it does not drop out, even after long periods of time.

Thank you.
