"Google Home Mini misidentifying room for light controls

radubuzea

Whenever I ask my Google Home Mini in the living room to turn the lights on or off, it controls the bedroom lights instead, notifying me with "Bedroom light is...". When I check the app, I can clearly see that the device is set as part of the living room, not the bedroom, yet it still doesn't behave as expected. I have to specifically say "Turn on/off the living room lights." However, sometimes, seemingly at random, it works as expected. What could be wrong with this device or service?

Hi radubuzea,

Thanks for posting. I'm sorry to hear about the situation that you are experiencing with your Nest Mini turning the lights on and off and the lights that are not working as spected. Don't worry, I can help. In this case, I just need to ask for some information to provide you with the best solution:

  1. Do the lights work in the Google Home app; you can turn them on/off?
  2. Do your lights use a separate app to connect with the Google Home app?
  3. What kind of lights do you have?

Once I have this information, I can continue with the steps.

Please keep me posted.

Regards,

Jenny
