When we first got the Google home device, we could do a search:
"Hey Google, search for funny cat videos on YouTube"
It would(still does) then display thumbnails with search results.
Back in those days, you could then say, "Hey Google, play the first one" and it would play the first video from the list of search results. If we try that now, the device forgets about the search and finds a video called "first one".
Is this just a cruel joke? Is there a way to do this simple task now? Sorry, I'm sure this has been asked before, but I can't find it on search.

Hey domingo3,
Thanks for reaching out — we're sorry for the trouble.
Here are some ways to talk with the Google Assistant on to play YouTube videos on displays or TVs.
Play general videos from TV show / YouTube Channel / artist
Play specific videos / songs
Play videos by category
You can also check this guide for more information.
Thanks,
Alex

I'm confused.
Is the answer, "no, you can't do that anymore," or is the answer "here's a copy and paste of an answer related to your question, but that's as much as you're going to get."?

Hey domingo3,
Sorry for the confusion.
Those are the supported commands you can use when casting YouTube using your Google Home device. Other commands may or may not work. We're always looking for ways to improve and we'll take it as feedback. Please let us know if you have any other questions or concerns as I will be locking this in 24 hours.
Best,
Alex
