"No wifi" when trying to add Voice match to device

I have exactly the same error as several others around the web:

Re: Google Hub 2 : Trying to add a device with voi... - Google Nest Community

Can't add my kids to Home Assistant : googlehome (reddit.com)

In short, I have invited my wife to be part of Google Home, which she has accepted. But not all devices show up when trying to add voice match to them. When trying to manually add the devices, the "No wifi connection" shows up.

She has working wifi for all other purposes, we tried rebooting the router, the speakers. Even tried uninstalling the updates for the Google app(apparently this worked for many, but not me).

Any ideas?

I solved it!!

The issue was that there were a few devices that were turned off and not considered in use. I had these setup way back, but my wife's Google Home had never seen these. They included a Chromecast that was turned off, a Bluetooth speaker that was offline and an old device not in use anymore.

So her initial setup for Google home/assistant and Voice match actually looked like it worked, with no errors, but after that, when she went back to her Google assistant settings, there was a notification to "complete setup" for these 3 offline devices, which I thought didn't matter since we don't really control them though Google Home/Assistant.

The speaker that we were having issues with from my original post was not included in this notification, but I guess its completion was being blocked by these 3 incomplete devices. When I removed all of those, and clicked "complete setup" on the notification(even thought the 3 devices no longer existed) her Voice match was added to problematic speaker.

What threw me was that the speaker she was having issues with wasn't listed as "not completed", but apparently all other devices must be online/working for Voice match to fully complete setup.

Hey jh30uk,

Sorry for the delays. Could you tell us the Google Home app version on your device? Also, have you tried using a different phone/tablet to train your voice?

Cheers,

Muddi

Everything is up to date, and I am in Betas, and I have tried to retain my voice and only have/need one phone (Android).

This issue effects too many people and was only after a previous update so it is your end.

I have just given up TBH overall with Googles products that are going from bad to worse which is a shame as they sued to work fine when launched years ago with less bloat.

Hey jh30uk,

I understand. This is not the experience that we want you to have - let's dig deeper into this issue. Could you tell us the make and model of your phone?

Cheers,

Muddi

I am not going to waste either of our time as again the issue is not the phone.

Thanks for the reply anyway but I am done with this for now.
