Ambient mode

When I set up chromecast it shows everything on tv screen. After about 5 minutes my network does not show on screen. I have it turned on in ambient mode. I have done a reboot and factory reset still the same thing happens. What am I doing wrong.

Hey there Roddavc,

 

I'm sorry to hear that your Chromecast is having issues, I know how frustrating that can be. However, I am not too sure I understand your issue. Are you saying that the Chromecast works fine, then when you let it idle for 5 minutes and go into Ambient Mode, it disconnects from the network? If that's the case, I would double-check the LED light on the Chromecast to see what color it is. Also, check out this article on troubleshooting Chromecast connection issues, and follow the steps listed.

What happens is when it is set up from the beginning it is fine. In the settings undress ambient mode you can choose what is shown in the screen. Weather, time etc... One setting says you can see the network you are on. It works when first seeing up then on the screen after 5 or 10 minutes you don't see the network you are connected to. When it is not there it is hit and miss a to whether i can cast anything from my phone which is on the same network. The home app says it is connected but it didn't always work. I've reset my router and my modem asking with the chromecast and still have the same issues.

Thanks for getting back to us. Please try to plug in your Chromecast into a different HDMI port on your TV and if possible, please plug it in on a different TV screen. Also, try to totally unplug the Chromecast then plug it back in after 24 hours.

 

If the same issue persists, please try to set up your Chromecast using a mobile hotspot and observe the behavior.
