I had the Google Chromecast w/ Google TV and had no audio problems. I decided to upgrade to the Google TV Streamer and the all audio will randomly go out (even system sounds). I have to go unplug the Google TV Streamer and plug it back in before the audio works again for a little bit.
I have the streamer plugged into the same HDMI port on my LG TV as my old Google Chromecast w/ Google TV. I am using a Sonos Beam connected to the TV by HDMI ARC. The HDMI I am using for the Streamer is the same one I have used for other devices such as a PS4 or DVD player and have never had issues with audio.
Is anyone else having this issue? Is there a fix? I have dug into the sound settings on the Streamer and enabling/disabling audio formats have no affect. Is it my unit and I need to get a replacement?

Same problem, slightly different circumstances:
1. Sound only works for a few seconds after reboot is complete. Only twice have I heard two seconds of sound when the streamer had been on for more than a minute, including once from a streaming app's content, the only time it wasn't the system sound.
2. Streamer is connected to an AVR. AVR to the tv.
Also switched the HDMI cable with my Shield. Didn't help. Haven't read about it anywhere else. Will be searching for the problem some more but I'm hoping that it will not prove to be some compatibilty issue and that our boxes are defective.

I have similar problems as well. My Google streamer 4K only out put Dolby digital plus through the Sonos arc, and from time to time I have the restart because there is no sound at all. I had no problems with the previous chromecast 4K. I can not get Atmos signal with the streamer 😫.

I am having the same issue. It seems to drop out at random points in some Netflix shows, but I was watching a rip of my Star Wars Ep IV BluRay and it seemed to cut out whenever the sound level got high. Explosions especially, or spaceship rumbles.

I too am also having issues using the same cable and HDMI ARC port that worked fine with the Roku Ultra it replaced.

Same issue for me as well. I have to reboot the device to get it to work. Sometimes that doesn't help and multiple reboots are needed. Using a Vizio TV.

Abandoning the auto setting and disabling Dolby Digital + codecs helped a bit. I was able to hear sound for more than a few seconds, but usually it dropped eventually.
I returned the device and went back to my Shield.
