Black Screen with Chromecast w/ Google TV 4K

I use CEC settings to turn on my television as I turn the Chromecast with Google TV 4K on. For the last couple of weeks it sporadically will turn on the TV, on the right input, but the screen will be black.

This used to happen to me, and I believe an update to the system fixed it months ago. Now the issue is back, maybe caused by another update?

No combination of changing CEC settings helps. Turning off the power to the Chromecast only helps it start that one time. Holding the button on the Chromecast to reset the unit doesn't help.

TV brand: Hisense
TV model: HiSmartTV A4

I have factory reset and then updated both the Chromecast and TV. I have unplugged all other HDMI and tried a different port. I have tried all combination of CEC settings on the TV.

Any ideas? Thank you for your time.

Hi Ignorantdesign,

Thanks for posting and for being a step ahead of us. We’re sorry for the trouble, and this is not the experience that we wanted you to have. Since you’ve already attempted all necessary troubleshooting steps, the last thing we can try is to isolate it by testing on a different TV. Let us know how it goes.

We look forward to your reply.

Thanks,

Kimy

I can report back that it was the television that was the problem. Specifically, allowing the television to update it's firmware. I factory reset the TV, but did not allow it to connect to the Internet, and the Chromecast with Google TV 4K works as it's supposed to with HDMI-CEC controls.

Thank you for taking the time to reply to my post. Take care.
