My old chromecast will optimize fullscreen videos no problem when casting from my laptop, but my brand new chromecast with tv 4K won't, the chromecast just mirrors the laptop (and quite quickly the audio becomes garbled and the video becomes choppy). PLEASE don't tell me I need to have two chromecasts plugged into the TV.
And yes, optimize full screen videos is ticked in the chrome toolbar.

I'm not trying to optimise 4K videos, the model of chromecast I have is the 4K.

Hey there!
Thank you for your reply. I have one more question: do you have the same issue with another device or only when you want to cast from your laptop?
I'll be looking for your reply.
Best regards,
Derick.

Thanks for the reply.
Only my laptop, but presumably this could only be an issue when casting from a laptop or desktop as other devices do not have built in casting unless the video itself has a casting option?

Hey there!
Thank you for your reply. In order to solve this issue, we can try another step. Maybe the Chromecast resolution was 1080p as the default. What we can try is to check if changing the display settings allows you to cast from your computer in 4K..
Could you please follow the steps below?
I'll be looking for your reply,
Best regards,
Derick.

Hi Derkick
It is already set to 4K. However, I am not trying to cast 4K videos. I can cast the same video to my very old chromecast and it will optimize full screen no problem.

Hey there!
Thank you for your reply. Continuing with the troubleshooting, you will find more instructions on how to try to resolve the issue you are having when you cast from your laptop to your Chromecast. Please take a look at the following article: Fix video issues on your computer.
Also, I have a question: when you cast from your laptop, are you casting from a browser or are you using the mirror screen mode?
I'll be looking for your reply.
Best regards,
Derick.

Thanks Derick, that article does not mention this issue and it doesn't happen when casting to my old Chromecast.
I am casting from browser, not mirroring my screen.

Hi there!
Thank you for the additional information. I have to ask, what browser are you using? And have you tried to uninstall the browser and reinstall it? I also want to recommend you try with another browser and confirm if the issue persists.
I’ll be waiting for your reply.
Regards,
Derick.
