Cannot connect Bluetooth headphones to Chromecast

Shalla

I have tried connecting several Bluetooth audio devices to My Chromecast and some connect and some don't. All of them connect fine to my phone. I would like to update my headphones to an over ear model, but "connects with Chromecast" is not a searchable feature. Why don't all my Bluetooth devices connect with the Chromecast Bluetooth? I have gone through all the help section suggestions of restarting the Chromecast, unplugging and plugging back in, updating the firmware on my device etc. And is there a list somewhere of guaranteed devices?

Hi, @Shalla!

Thank you for reaching out to the community. I apologize that many of your Bluetooth audio devices aren’t connecting to the Chromecast. I understand you want to fully utilize Google’s features. I’m here to help find a solution!

To gather more information, please let me know your Chromecast model and whether it has the latest firmware version. In the meantime, please try these troubleshooting steps:

  • Reboot your Bluetooth device: Turn it off and on again, then try pairing it once more.
  • Disconnect other Bluetooth devices: If you have other Bluetooth devices paired with your Chromecast, disconnect them and try pairing your desired device.
  • Power cycle your TV: Unplug your TV for 10 seconds, plug it back in, and try pairing your Bluetooth device again.

If these steps don’t resolve the issue, please perform a factory reset on your Chromecast. After setting it up again, try pairing your Bluetooth device.

Best regards,

Ana

The first thing I did was try to update the firmware. The Chromecast is running Android 12, but I don't know the model. I will try disconnecting all other Bluetooth and resetting the new device and then I will be able to find out the Chromecast model

I have the Chromecast with Google TV HD.

Disconnecting all the Bluetooth devices and resetting my headphones did not work.

I am not prepared to factory reset the Chromecast without strong evidence this will resolve the issue.

Hi, @Shalla!

Thank you for the update. I'm sorry to hear that the issue persists even after disconnecting Bluetooth devices and resetting the Chromecast. I'm happy to help you further.

To effectively investigate this inconvenience, we need to isolate the specific factors causing this behavior. A factory reset will help us identify the root cause and provide a tailored solution. Please refer to this article for instructions: How to factory reset your Chromecast or Google TV Streamer.

Please keep me posted.

Best regards,

Ana
