Casting via a webpage

I'm trying to play some videos which are on sports websites, but don't show the Chromecast symbol, so I can't cast them except by casting my screen, which doesn't work well. I think the lack of CC is by design, because the videos may also be available on a pay streaming service.

Obviously I can play these videos on my Android phone and tablet (or PC) but I'd like them on the big screen TV.

Is using a browser on Google TV a reasonable option to achieve this? I tried installing a browser but it was so difficult to use that I deleted it in disgust.

Is there any simple cut/paste way to point a website to a URL, so my interface with the browser is minimal?

What browser would you use for this?

Is there a better way?

Hi Gabbee,

Thanks for posting here in the Google Nest Community. If the sports websites that you're watching have their own cast-enabled app version, you can cast it from your Android phone or tablet instead. It’s much better than screen mirroring. If not, you can use the Chrome browser on your PC. The right way to cast from a computer using the Google Chrome browser is by clicking on the three dotsMore menu icon located on the top right of the browser, then choosing the option “Cast” from the dropdown. Just remember that the Chrome browser app on mobile devices is not a cast-enabled app since it’s not as complete as the one you install on computers.

I hope this helps. Let us know if you have other questions.

Thanks,

Kimy

Amazing, it worked! And only from Chrome. This may be an occasional solution, but my PC isn't always convenient to my TV. A solution using an Android tablet would be much better.

Thanks anyway, Kimy. I will use this at least sometimes.
