Chromecast 00:11:22:33:44:55

My Google Chromecast TV HD has been disconnecting for a long time (probably since I bought it) and only a reboot of the Wi-Fi router helped. It was very annoying and I thought it was the router. But today, after I saw the strange MAC address 00:11:22:33:44:55 in the network settings, I realized that something was wrong. And it turned out that the MAC addresses of my two Chromecasts are 00:11:22:33:44:55. I am very outraged because this is simply not an acceptable defect for Google. I hope Google will fix it and not leave it as it is.

Hi Paslik19,

Thank you for posting in the community. I'm sorry that your Chromecast with Google TV (HD) is having trouble disconnecting from your Wi-Fi. I understand how frustrating that can be. Let me help you with that.

To improve your Chromecast with Google TV (HD) connections and performance, try these steps:

  • If your router supports both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz, make sure your streaming device is on the 5 GHz network.
  • Update your router's firmware or software, if needed. Sometimes routers have bugs, and there are firmware fixes to address them. Make sure your router is running the most updated software.
  • Restart your streaming device. Unplug the power cable, wait 3 seconds, and plug the power cable back in.
  • Restart your modem or router. Check the manufacturer for instructions.
  • To help prevent Wi-Fi or Bluetooth interference, move your streaming device further away from your TV. Also, don't let it touch other devices, wires, or cables.
  • Use an Ethernet adapter to connect your streaming device to your router. This will give you a direct, hardwired connection to the internet and alleviate your home Wi-Fi network.
  • Check that your wireless network can support the number of devices connected to it.
  • To improve wireless coverage, use a mesh network like Google Nest Wifi.
  • Move your router to within 20 feet of your streaming device.
  • As a last resort, you can factory reset your streaming device.

Also, you can consider checking your network settings with your ISP provider. As you mentioned, the MAC address shown on your network might be causing a disruption for the signal. Try to check the setting and verify if there is any firewall blocking connection between the Chromecast with Google TV (HD) and your ISP router.

Let me know if you need any further questions.

Regards,

Byron
