Hello,
I have a chromecast 2nd generation working perfectly until March 9th.
On March 9th it got disconnected from google home (known issue with certificate) and I waited for the fix rollout
After the fix rollout the device hasn't any video output anymore, and it cannot be restored by factory reset, pushing its hardware button simply does nothing (pushed for more than 1 minute too)
Google support still replies to factory reset it and to use hotspot to restore it, but they seem to miss to understand that the problem is the device itself, not booting at all after the fix.
How could be possible to restore its firmware using a cable? Is adb or any other tool able to flash the firmware to put it back to life?
Thank you in advance

Hi @vbontempi,
Thanks for reaching out to the Google Nest community. I'm sorry to hear that your Chromecast 2nd gen is blocked after the fixed release in March 2025, but there's no need to worry; I'm happy to help you right now.
I'd like to ask you a few questions in order to gather more information about the concern and find the best way to fix it.
Any additional details you can provide will be helpful.
Best regards,
Gabriela
