Chromecast 4k does not run on 7inch 1024x600 monitor, 2nd Gen does

Hello

I have 2 Chromecasts, one 2nd Gen and one with Google TV (4k). Both run perfectly on all my Panasonic TV sets.

Now sometimes I connect the 2nd Gen to a 7inch 1024x600 monitor. This works very well on a no-name chinese monitor that I usually use for Raspberry Pi and as a 2nd monitor for Windows 11.

When I connect the 4k to one of the monitors, I see the coloured "G" for a few seconds, then the screen turns black and remains so. The LED is solid white all the time.

I tried to change the video settings, but unfortunately the Video button in Google Home does not appear for the 4l, for the 2nd Gen it does. I change the video settings - having the 4k connected to a TV set - for 60Hz to 50Hz and lower resolution, but that does not help. Always the coloured "G" and then a black screen.

So IMHO the monitor is OK - it runs with 2nd Gen Chromecast, several RPis and several PCs, but not with 4k.

Any idea what can be the reason?

Thanks and Cheers
Frank

Hi FrankB59069,

Thanks for reaching out here in the community! I'm sorry to hear that your Chromecast with Google TV 4K isn’t running with your monitors. Help's here!

To better assist you, I’d like to ask the following:

  • Has the Chromecast ever worked with these two monitors?
  • Did you get any error messages?

Since you mentioned trying to connect the Chromecast with Google TV 4K to a new device, I'd recommend the following steps:

  • Make sure you have the latest versions of the Google Home app, mobile software, and Google TV.
  • If necessary, update your router's firmware. Outdated firmware can sometimes cause compatibility issues.
  • Perform a factory reset on your Chromecast with Google TV 4K, then set it up again through the Google Home app. Please note that this will erase all settings, so back up any important data. You can find the instructions in the following article: How to factory reset your Chromecast.
  • After that, adjust your display settings through the Google Home app. For reference, you can check out this article: Display settings for Chromecast with Google TV.

Before reading the Chromecast to the Google Home app, please remove the device from the app and then set it up again.

Let me know how it goes.

Best regards,

Jenniffer
