Chromecast Connecting Issue

Dear All,

I am having issues casting my device via a specific SSID, the SSID is splash page enabled but I whitelisted the IP so that it can by-pass the splash page. It connects to internet but when I try to cast, it says [ available to specific video sites ] meanwhile if there is an SSID which is just password protected, it works fine for it. What can be the issue. TIA.

  • What kind of Chromecast do you have?
  • Have you ever been able to connect your Chromecast to this network before?
  • What troubleshooting steps have you done so far?

The device is Chromecast with Google TV [ HD ]. When I connect to SSID which is password protected, it works fine but when there is an SSID which is splash page authenticated, I get the error [ limited for specific video sites ] although I whitelist the IP as well.

Thanks for the follow-up information. It seems the inconvenience might be related to your Internet Service Provider.

 

To better assist you, I'd like to ask a question:

 

  • What type of router do you have?

In the meantime, Let's try this step:

 

  • Use a Mobile Hotspot: Try setting up Chromecast using a mobile hotspot with a password-protected SSID on your phone. Once set up, you can switch it back to your regular Wi-Fi.
