Chromecast HD with google TV is not adjusting the volume of the TV properly

Hello,

I'm controlling my Panasonic TV via CEC. The volume up and the volume down buttons are working but to increase or decrease the volume of the TV you should pump the button. When you hold down the volume up or the volume down buttons the volume level is not changing. It is very inconvenient and I think that it is a bug. Is there any workaround solution to fix this problem?

Hi 5kov,

Thanks for posting here in the Google Nest Community. We’re sorry for the trouble, and this is not the experience that we wanted you to have. If you’re still willing to try, we have a workaround to troubleshoot this:

  • Remove the batteries and give it a 2 to 3 minute rest.
  • While the batteries are out, press and hold down the power button for 15 to 20 seconds to fully drain any static power left on the chipset/motherboard of the Chromecast Voice remote, then release the button.
  • Let the remote rest again for 2 to 3 minutes. Take this time to unplug the Chromecast device from power and give it a 1 minute rest before you plug it back in.
  • Test and observe.
  • If it persists, you can factory reset the remote and pair it again.

Kindly ensure that your Chromecast device is up-to-date, or you can do a full clean-up by performing a factory reset and setting it up from scratch to remove any corrupted files or data. If it persists, then this is mostly hardware-related now. You can check if your device is still covered by warranty here: Warranty Checker. If it’s still covered, then you can reach out to our support team for a replacement here: Contact Us. You may choose the option of a live chat or a callback from a live representative. We can also send you a form if you prefer communication via email.

Let us know. We look forward to your response.

Thanks,

Kimy
