Chromecast Remote Doesn't Work

My remote seemed to work fine until one day, where it just stopped working.  My chromecast remote pairs with my chromecast, however none of the buttons on the device work. I have just put new batteries in the remote, have tried resetting my chromecast, but nothing seems to work. The remote pairs but beyond that I can't use any other buttons on the remote.

• When did this issue start happening?
• What is the firmware version of the Chromecast Voice Remote?
• What color is the LED light on the remote?
• What kind of TV do you have?
• Are you using HDMI-CEC or IR controls?
• What troubleshooting steps have you already tried?
