Chromecast Streamer with Google Home Max?

I have two Google Home Maxes and while watching a review, I saw a setting to choose your audio output. Can you choose to connect a google speaker to the new streamer? Is it just a Bluetooth connection, or is it a networked speaker group?

Hi gbutton,

Thanks for posting. I understand that you want to link your Google Streamer with your Google Speaker. In this case, you can control the video and audio with your speaker display once you make sure your phone or tablet is connected to the same Wi-Fi or linked to the same account as your speaker, display, and Google streaming devices.

Here is how to do it:

  • Open the Google Home app.
  • Tap Devices > Add > Google Nest or partner device.
  • Tap the home you want to add the device to > Next.
  • Tap the device you want to set up. The app will search for available devices and guide you through the rest of the setup.

You can check detailed information on the "Link your TV to your Google Nest or Home speaker or display" article.

Please let me know how that goes.

Best regards,
Jenny

Hi. I’ve connected my Max directly via bluethoot with the streamer as a external audio output. The problem it’s that the sound starts to shutter after a few minutes and turns unbearable. I’m having no solution yet form google.

Hi Tecnoadicto24,

Thanks for posting. I'm sorry to hear about the situation that you are experiencing with the sound on your Google Nest Hub Max and your Google TV Streamer. But don't worry; help is here. In this case, I just need to confirm if you set up your device with the next steps:

Link your speaker or display and streaming device:

  1. Open the Google Home app.
  2. At the top right, tap your account.
  3. Verify that the Google Account shown is the one linked to your Google device.
  4. Scroll to "Local Devices" and find your device and then tap Link Account and then follow the in-app instructions to finish linking.

Set your preferred TV:

For Speakers

  1. Open the Google Home app.
  2. Tap and hold your device's tile.
  3. At the top right, tap Settings and then Audio, then:
  • To choose the TV or speaker you want to use when you play music, tap Default music speaker.
  • To choose your preferred TV, tap Default TV.

To reset your preferred device, tap Default speaker or Default TV and then Reset.

For Displays

  1. Open the Google Home app.
  2. Tap and hold your device's tile.
  3. At the top right, tap Settings , then:
  • To choose the TV or speaker you want to use when you play music, tap Audio > Default music speaker, then choose the TV or speaker you want to use when you play music.
  • To choose your preferred TV, tap Display > Default TV, then choose your preferred TV.

To reset your preferred device, tap Default speaker or Default TV > Reset.

Please keep me posted. I'll be waiting for your response.

Best regards,

Jenny
