Chromecast google TV 4k not working

My Google TV will randomly drop in and out of 4K when streaming each day. I have only had the device for a week now and am struggling to want to use it as this issue keeps happening. When it drops to 720p, I go into display settings and the option to change the resolution disappears. Everytime I turn the TV off, or the Google TV goes into rest mode, it goes back to 720p as well. 

Becoming very frustrating and contemplating returning the product. 

TV is 4k compatible, have already checked all the settings for that as well. 

Any ideas?

Thanks for bringing your concern to our attention and posting it in the community. I'm really sorry to hear about your overall experience with your Chromecast with Google TV.

 

I understand that you're having an ongoing issue with the screen resolution. Let's work on it together.

 

First of all, I'd like to confirm a few things:

  • When did the issue first start?
  • Have you successfully cast content before without any video quality problems?
  • Have you tried using the streaming device on a different TV? Does it exhibit the same behavior?

 

In the meantime, please try the following:

  • Go to All Settings > System.
  • Select Restart.
  • Confirm your choice by selecting Restart again.

Once the device has restarted, please check if the issue is resolved.
