Chromecast overload

Since I’ve started using chrome cast, the voice command stopped working on YouTube TV, now Google TV is in the way of live TV, I seem to have no control over what happens on this device.  Every time I get my mother to kind of understand how to get the channels she wants, some genius changes it.  I’m going to have to go back to cable or else live the rest of years with my mother as a living TV remote.

what can I do to make something stable?  What can I do to get voice control back?  Is there any system that limits streaming to one service only?  Is there any way to stop the constant rearranging?

Hi KrisG,

Thank you for posting in the community! I'm sorry to hear that the voice command stopped working on YouTube TV. I'd be happy to help!

To get voice control working as expected, I'll need more information to determine if the inconvenience lies with Google Assistant or the voice remote itself.

Based on your description, it seems like you have a Chromecast with Google TV. Please confirm this. In addition, I'd like to ask the following questions:

  • Can the TV recognize any other commands?
  • Does this inconvenience occur when using Google Assistant, the voice remote manually, or both?
  • Does this situation happen with only YouTube TV or other apps as well?

In the meantime, I’d suggest the following:

  • Make sure you have the latest versions of the Google Home app, mobile software, and Google TV.
  • Try replacing the batteries with new 1.5 V AAA batteries simultaneously. Check for a blinking LED light.
  • Reboot your Chromecast device. For reference, you can check out this article: Reboot your Chromecast device.

Please keep me posted.

Best regards,

Jenniffer
