Hi,
I have a Samsung smart tv and I have been using my chromecast on the same TV for more than a year without any issues. But for the past couple of weeks, volume controls, mute, power and input buttons stopped working on my TV. When I press any of these buttons, a white flash light comes up on the remote.
I tried the following options:
1. Unpaired the remote and paired it again. This solutions works for some half an hour or so and then the issue reappears
2. Tried factory resetting my chromecast device as well as my chromecast remote. Again this solution also didn't work.
3. I switched off the power to my devices like tv and chromecast and configured everything again. Didn't work either.
None of my approaches were successful in bringing me a permanent solution. I am hoping to get a permanent solution here. As the remote was perfectly fine and suddenly started behaving weird, I am suspecting if any recent update may have caused the issue.

I tried all that. It didn't work.. I changed the batteries in the remote and it started working again. But what I couldn't place is that the previous battery was also brand new.. it even showed battery level as good on the screen. But didn't work.. is there any specific kind of batteries that we need to use?

Hi Nandhini,
Glad to hear that this has been sorted out and thanks for updating the community with your resolution. The batteries used in the remote can be replaced using store-bought AAA 1.5 V alkaline batteries, such as Energizer AAA 1.5 V alkaline battery. It is recommended to replace all batteries at the same time. Do not mix old and new batteries. Do not use lithium ion or any other batteries with rated voltage above 1.5 V.
Thanks,
Jennifer

Same issue here. Plus YouTube viewing options no longer appear on my Samsung TV.

I guess the issue is after some update given to the chromecast remote. Mine currently says version 24.7 and this is not compatible with my TV.
I hope google addresses it soon

Hi folks,
Thanks for reaching out and for being a step ahead of us. Could you please try to plug in your Chromecast into a different HDMI port on your TV? Plugging it on a different TV screen might also help.
Thanks,
Jennifer
