Chromecast revert to 1080 when turn-on

Everytime I turn on CCGTV the TV resolution reverts to 1080p when it is supposed to stay at 4K. Can anyone help solve this problem?

Hello there,

It could be the reason. Please try to plug in the Chromecast directly to your TV so we can isolate the issue.

Thanks,

Jennifer

Hi edwardsuper,

Thanks for reaching out. May I know if your TV is a 4K compatible HDTV? All Chromecast devices require a TV with High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP) 1.3 or higher built-in. HDCP 2.2 is required to support 4K content. You can check this support website article to learn more about streaming 4K Ultra HD content.

Thanks,

Jennifer

Jennifer,

Sorry for the late reply. My TV is indeed 4K Dolby Vision compatible. I've found that if I set CCWGTV to 4K HDR, it will stay at 4K HDR when turned-on. Not so if I set it to 4K Dolby Vision though.

Although I can live with 4K HDR with no problem, I can't help but wonder it would be better when set to 4K Dolby Vision.

Hi edwardsuper,

No problem at all. Could you please try to plug in the Chromecast into a different HDMI port on your TV? Also, please check the supported formats under Dynamic range format preference. Here's how: Go to Google TV settings > Display and sound and enable HDMI-CEC enabled devices on the same settings.

Thanks,

Jennifer

My Chromecast is actually plugged into a soundbar which is connected to TV through HDMI-ARC port. Could this be the reason that Chromecast can only identify the soundbar as HDR available but not Dolby Vision available?
