Chromecast’s Remote has stopped working and overheats quickly, flattening batteries

Unable to use Chrome Cast remote. Looks like there’s a few people with similar issues/tickets 

How do I go about solving it?

Thanks for reaching out and I'm sorry to hear that you're having an issue with your Voice Remote. Let's check this further. 

When did the issue start? What's the LED status on your Voice Remote and Chromecast with Google TV dongle? 

Try these steps:

1. Try to check if there are stuck buttons on the remote.
2. Replace the batteries. 
3. Check for pending remote software updates. Go to Settings > Remotes and Accessories > Remote update > Continue. The remote might briefly disconnect during the software update.
4. Perform another factory data reset (FDR) on the Chromecast with Google TV dongle and Voice Remote.

After doing the steps, please observe the behavior of your Chromecast Voice Remote and keep me posted.

It didn’t work.

 I have since communicated with Google support and they are sending a replacement remote for the one that is broken.
