Used chromecast

I just bought a chromecast off marketplace. It still is linked to their wifi network. I've tried holding down the button to reset it but nothing happens. The light just stays blue... Help

What model of Chromecast is it?

The reset button is always on the edge of the Chromecast itself, near to the power input. Once you've found the reset button, follow the steps in the next help article to factory reset your Chromecast.

Thanks for the info. It's 2nd generation. I followed the steps but the light never switches to orange. Even after holding it down for a good 2 mins. I guess the thing is toast 🤷‍♀️

Caseymcd88, when you open the Google Home app, can you see your Chromecast as a ready to set up device? If so, try these steps:

 

  • Check the Wi-Fi settings of your phone and connect directly to the Chromecast's temporary hotspot, Chromecast XXXX, or manually look for the previous name that has been used for the Chromecast device like Living Room TV or Bedroom TV, and then proceed with the normal setup.
