Chromecast with Google TV, no Dolby Atmos

Hi, I can not seem to get Dolby Atmos from any app, Netflix, Disney+ or AppleTV. All content I have tried have the Dolby Atmos logo. I get Dolby VIsion to the TV but the receiver only receives Dolby Digital + and is 5.1. When I select the Manual setting Dolby Atmos in Dolby Digital+ only, oddly no Netflix shows will play that are in Atmos, Disney shows still play in Dolby Digital+, AppleTV plays in stereo.  I have restarted, power cycled etc. All the content I have been trying, played in Atmos through my 4K Apple TV, which I had to lend to someone for a few weeks unfortunately. Software is up to date. Anything else I can try?

Hey there Dooj,

Welcome to the Chromecast Community Forum! Chromecast outputs surround sound if a particular app supports it, and if the Audio/Video Receiver (AVR) or TV it's plugged into tells the Chromecast over Extended Display Identification Data (EDID) that it supports 5.1, AC3, and AC3/EAC3 surround sound. If the TV or AVR do not support one of these settings, Chromecast will not output surround sound.

I would double-check your setup and TV settings to see if you are able to meet the requirements for Dolby Digital on Chromecast.

I look forward to your response, and if you had any other questions or concerns, please let me know.

Best regards,

Jeran
