Chromecast with Goolge TV (HD) has stopped working

As of the last two days our Chromecast with Google TV (HD) no longer responds to its remote control. The green light is on. It no longer appears in the list of devices in the Home app.  It has been rebooted and the app cannot find it. We changed the batteries in case this was the problem. No. I attempted to re-pair the remote  by pressing the button on the chromecast 2 secs , holding down home and the yellow light pulses, but it seems to have no effect. This is a Samsung tv.

Can anyone throw any light on what might be happening?

Try a factory reset of the Chromecast (ensure the device is powered on and connected to your TV, then press and hold the button on the back until the LED light starts blinking yellow. When it turns solid white, release the button)

I've been having the same problem with my Chromecast and Panasonic TV. I did the factory reset this morning and it worked for a few hours but it didn't "stick" and I'm now back to square one.

Okay in that case you may need to factory reset the remote itself .. press and hold the Mute and Center (Select) buttons simultaneously until the remote's LED turns solid white

Resetting the remote happened with the factory reset. Aside from the volume, the remote still works (just not casting apps from my phone).

Apologies, I thought you meant the remote stopped working.  Okay so it's the Wi-Fi that's not working then.   On the Chromecast itself can you manually launch and stream content still?  If so , it could be a router issue , have you tried a power cycle of your router , as well as the casting device (your phone).  If you are running a more recent version of Android you should be able to reset your network by going into the Internet setting and clicking the reset button in the top right (circular symbol with arrow and wrench in it )

Thank you. Just tried the factory reset. Held the button down for a count of 30 seconds. The light never turned yellow or blinked, remained solidly white throughout.

Still searching for an answer. Anyone any clue why this should suddenly stop working? I tried an old chromecast and it works fine, so it's not the tv or the wifi.
