Constant static hiss on the audio

As soon as I turn on the chromecast to view on the TV there is a background hiss which gets progressively worse until you can barely hear the audio stream at all. Turning on and off doesn't fix it! 

Anyone help or is it as I fear - my device is knackered?

That certainly hasn’t been easy for you. Let’s further look into it. Try these steps:

 

  • Unplug your Chromecast with Google TV (4K) device from the power cord and HDMI port for 2 minutes.
  • Plug your Chromecast with Google TV (4K) device into a different HDMI port.
  • Check for a system update.
    • Go to the home screen of your Chromecast with Google TV.
    • Choose Settings > System > About > System Update.
  • If the issue persists, do a factory reset.

Well I followed the instructions mate, ended up with the factory reset, soI lost all my settings etc but I didn't lose the hiss!

Any other thoughts? Its driving me crazy
