Chromecast not showing up as a Cast destination on a corporate network

For some reason after setting up the device via Home, the Chromecast does not show up in Chrome as destination for casting.

This is our public network, so a simple password is all that is required to login. The device I am trying to cast to IS on the same network. Thanks.

Does that network have the client/AP isolation security feature enabled? If so, this will not work as the phone or tablet cannot communicate with the Chromecast. I would also check these settings, which are required for Chromecast to work properly.

Enable

  • Universal Plug and Play (UPnP)
  • Multicast
  • Internet Group Management Protocol (IGMP)

Disable:

  • AP/client isolation
  • Virtual private networks (VPNs)
  • Proxy servers
  • Internet Group Management Protocol (IGMP) Proxy
  • MAC Address Filtering
