How do I unpair the Chromecast remote control from a device

The platform and category are wrong, but they don't seem to have a category for this issue.  I need to unpair the Chromecast remote from a device so that when I click the power button on the Chromecast remote, the device does not turn on.  Couldn't find any guidance on how to do this through many Google searches.  Grateful for any help, thanks!

You should have the option to do that if you go back into the settings on the Chromecast itself? At the top right of your TV screen, select your profile and then Settings, then select Remotes and accessories. Select power, input, or volume as required.
