Dropped frames on YouTube with the Google TV Streamer - due to audio settings

Hi, there's an issue with dropped frames on the Google TV Streamer when using the YouTube app and watching 60fps videos. Opening the Stats for nerds confirms this.

I've worked out that this only happens when the Audio format is set to 'Automatic'. If set to 'Dolby Digital Plus', it doesn't happen. Obviously this is not a viable solution as I don't want everything converted to just that format.

All the apps are up to date and the Streamer is on the latest available firmware.

Hi @pabulous,

Thanks for reaching out to the community! I understand that you've been experiencing some issues with your Google TV Streamer, specifically with dropped frames while using the YouTube app. I appreciate you sharing the workaround you found for this inconvenience. I'd be happy to help with this.

Before we can move forward, could you share a few details:

  • Is your device's power saving mode turned on?
  • How close are your devices to each other?
  • If you cast from a mobile device, is the Operating System (OS) updated?
  • Are there other apps that actively run on your device?
  • When did your problem start?
  • What is the make and model of your TV?
  • What does your setup look like?
  • Is your streaming device connected to an external sound system, such as a soundbar or A/V receiver?
  • What is the brand of your sound system?
  • Does this issue happen consistently or rarely?

Once you have that information, I'll be more than happy to provide assistance.

Best regards,

Debora
