Factory reset chromecast

Hello. How do i FACTORY RESET my chromecast ?

I'm disabled - i cannot go behind my TV or get on the ground etc. i do not know which VERSION I've got of chromecast

- Ive had a person in earlier today to set up a new modem, but they've gone & now I find my chromecast not going.

it says I need to FACTORY RESET - I'm following this from ANDROID.

https://support.google.com/chromecast/answer/6254654?sjid=14413541070778243609-AP#zippy=%2Cchromecas...

However, I cannot find FACTORY RESET.   (Why can't I type a word in and it goes directly there instead of via menus...)

I go to SETTINGS (& the funny icon), but i cannot find "more"

How. Please advise, thank you

(also, how do I make the text BIGGER so I can actually read it.  - there's nothing in Google home settings for text size)

I'm on IPAD - big screen & very tiny text

PPs - why cant I get google home on my WIn10 main PC?  why do I have to use mobile phone / android ?

This is annoying. My google HOME finds my Chromecast, but says "This device was previously set up by another user. Please factory reset the device"

Why doesn't it have a  link directly FROM THIS MESSAGE to reset the device?   or do I HAVE to physically unplug / press the button or whatever ? Is there a way to reset it from google home?

So many questions to answer.

Here are the instructions on how to reset using an iPad or iPhone:

https://support.google.com/chromecast/answer/6254654?hl=en&sjid=15231845722327960675-NA&co=GENIE.Pla...

Note: there are DIFFERENT instructions for Android devices.  The Apple instructions do not have the "more" option.

No, you cannot make the text in the app bigger.

No, you cannot use Home on a PC.  The Home app is only made for Android devices and iPads and iPhones.  Google does not make a version of the app for use on Windows computers (they don't speak the right computer language).

I've tried all the options I can think of. The ONLY option left is to physically reset it at the Google Casting Chromecast.

Basically, I've changed my wifi, and my new wifi cannot 'see' the Chromecast (as it is still connected to the old wifi which of course is turned off), so it cannot reset it electronically.

I'll have to wait until someone comes that knows 'something' about computers and can follow instructions.
(I can't get on the floor etc to reach the back of the TV unless I want an ambulance to come and get me up).

All the people that do come know less than nothing about computers. i'll have to find someone..

You can close this thread - unless you know a way to "FIND" a Google Chromecast even if it's not on your wifi network?

1) Find a Chromecast device
2) Send reset command.
3) the TV screen displays a code
4) if you enter the right code within 5 minutes - it's RESET and also 'programmed' to connect to your current wifi.

PS I've found some help pages, that if you connect your phone direct to the wifi option of Chromecast, you can load up "home" and reset it that way. tried that, but "home" keeps shutting down.

Hi gordonisnz,

You can attempt to set it up as long as the Google Home App can detect your Chromecast device. You can connect to the Chromecast’s SSID, then go back to the Google Home app to continue with the setup to get it connected to the new WiFi. But if it fails, then there’s the need to perform a manual factory reset. I hope this clarifies the confusion. Let us know if you still have questions.

Thanks,

Kimy

All sorted - reset at the device itself.

I tried logging in via the wifi of google itself - didn't work, the HOME app didn't like it & crashed
