Google ChromeCast is streaming very slow with Amazon Prime

Greetings,

I am having issues with my ChromeCast not streaming Amazon Prime. It will stop streaming or it will stream for a few seconds and then start buffering (the spinning loading cursor). And yet all of the other apps I have such as Netflix, HBO/MAX, Paramount+, Hulu, etc. work without any issues. Here are the steps I've done:

- I rebooted the ChromeCast. This would fix the issue with Amazon however, the issue comes back again a day later.

- I rebooted my wireless router. Again, the issue is fixed however, the problem comes back again.

- I also have my  wireless router near my ChromeCast therefore, nothing is blocking the communication between the two devices.

- I updated my ChromeCast patch version to the latest but the issue still persists.

Here is another factor to take into account. I have a ROKU TV in another room that can stream Amazon Prime, no problem. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I have attached a photo showing the information about my ChromeCast.

If you're experiencing slow streaming with Google Chromecast on Amazon Prime, there are a few steps you can take to potentially improve your streaming speed and quality:

Check Your Internet Connection: Slow streaming can often be attributed to a weak or unstable internet connection. Ensure that you have a stable and fast internet connection. You can run a speed test using a service like Ookla's Speedtest to determine your internet speed.

Position Your Router: If your Chromecast device is far away from your Wi-Fi router, you might experience slow streaming. Try to position your Chromecast closer to the router or consider using a Wi-Fi extender to improve signal strength.

Reduce Network Congestion: If there are multiple devices connected to your Wi-Fi network, especially those using bandwidth-intensive applications, it can slow down streaming. Consider disconnecting or limiting the use of other devices when streaming.

Check Your Wi-Fi Network Channel: If you're in an area with many Wi-Fi networks, interference can affect your connection. You can log in to your router settings and change the Wi-Fi channel to one with less interference.

Update Your Chromecast: Ensure that your Chromecast is running the latest firmware. Sometimes, updates can improve performance and stability. You can check for updates in the Google Home app.

Check for App Updates: Make sure you're using the latest version of the Amazon Prime Video app on your mobile device or computer. App updates can sometimes address streaming issues.

Restart Devices: Sometimes, a simple restart of your Chromecast, router, and device you're casting from can resolve streaming issues.

Switch to 5 GHz Wi-Fi: If your router supports both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands, switching to the 5 GHz band may provide a faster and more stable connection for streaming.

Use an Ethernet Adapter: If possible, consider using an Ethernet adapter with your Chromecast for a wired connection, which can be more reliable for streaming.

Contact Amazon Prime Support: If the issue persists and is specific to the Amazon Prime app, consider reaching out to Amazon Prime customer support for assistance.

Hi folks,

We appreciate your help here, @pronasit.

Thanks for posting and for being a step ahead of us, @dhalwood2001. You’ve taken the right steps, but since it persists, it seems that the issue is not with the Chromecast device itself. All other apps are working except for the Prime Video app. Let’s try to isolate it by disconnecting it from your Wi-Fi and connecting it to another network. You can use your phone’s mobile hotspot if there’s no other network available. Network issues such as DNS settings, server denial, etc. can still occur despite having fast and consistent internet access on most or all devices. Let us know how it goes.

Thanks,

Kimy
