Google Chromecast 4K no connection to 5 Ghz-Mobile Hotspot

Hello  guys,

First of all I want to apologize for my bad english, it is not my native language!

I have the Google Chromecast 4K (https://store.google.com/us/product/chromecast_google_tv?hl=en-US) and a problem:

I am using my Mobile Hotspot because I have no Home-Internet-Provider. But the Internet speed is really slow. I found out that the reason were my Hotspot-Settings: I needed to change my frequency range from 2.4 GhZ to 5 GhZ. (This worked perfectly on my PC, there I have fast internet speed). But my Chromecast cannot find the 5 GhZ-Hotspot, only if I use 2.4 GhZ he can find my Hotspot from my mobile phone. The problem is that my Internet-Speed is only fast with the 5 GhZ-frequency range.

I already reset my Chromecast, but he cannot find the 5 GhZ-Hotspot, only the 2.4 GhZ one. If I look at the tech specs from the Chromecast they say that the Chromecast should work with 5 GhZ-Connection.

Do you have any idea how to solve the problem? Does the chromecast support 5 GhZ-Hotspot from a mobile hotspot?

I look forward hearing from you and thank you for your help!

Yours sincerely

Hi @M_Kronibaer

Thanks for posting in the community. I do apologize for the issue your Chromecast may be causing.

I understand you're having trouble connecting it to your personal hotspot, which seems to be the issue.

In order to provide you with the right steps, I need to know some additional information:

  • What's the TV brand and model?
  • Are you using a second phone to connect the device, or is the same one sharing the internet?
  • How many devices are connected to your network at this moment?

Once you share this information, I will provide you with the right steps to connect your device.

Thank you,

Catheryn.
