My sister in California bought this device for me in 2021, but because of the pandemic I didn't pick it up until now. I live in Norway. When I opened the box, it looked new, but a Nathan Reed had been logged in. Who could imagine that Target would sell it as new? Is it possible to bring it back to factory settings, and in case HOW? If not it is 50 US$ thrown out of the window.

You can do a factory reset to start from scratch:
How to factory reset your Chromecast - Android - Chromecast Help (google.com)
This clears all data and you start a clean device. Just follow the steps on screen to set it up with your google account.

It is impossible to do this, for I can't open the settings. I can't get past this Nathan Reed with email #. What can I do? Is there another way to reset the device?

Follow the 2nd steps from the link I posted which suggestes pressing the button on the back of the chromecast device until color changes.
