I have tried calling my provider, tried every troubleshooting provided all the helpdesk. And I still cannot set up my Chromecast to my non-smart TV. Please tell me there is a phone number I can call that will help me out. The one that I found was a scam one asking me for my credit card.

What exactly is your problem during setup?

It doesn’t prompt me to set it up at all. It doesn’t recognize the device but the light is on everything is plugged in. When I first plugged it in it said welcome and then it just disappeared.

How many HDMI ports do you have on the TV?
Connect the Chromecast device to another HDMI port.
What TV model do you have?
If your TV firmware don't support online updates, check if there is a new firmware version available on the manufacturer's website and, if there is a newer version available, put it on a USB stick and update your TV firmware.

Only the one. It’s a Samsung (not smart tv). I’ve been at this for hours 😞

Is your Chromecast device new or was it setup before in another equipment?

Brand new. I just received it today

Ok. First, try to reboot the TV - unolu it from the main power grid for about 5 minutes then plug it back in.
After TV reboots, connect the Chromecast device to the HDMI port. Ensure that the Chromecast device is powered directly from the main power grid.

i’ve done that. I even had my cable provider reset it on their end.

It may be a HDMI handshake issue.
Check for newer firmware version update on Samsung website.
If you have a cable TV/internet provider, you can check for update online. Sometimes, cable providers offer firmware updates directly on their network.
Also, try to hard reset the Chromecast device, using its built-in button.

Isn’t that only for smart TVs?

Is there really not a phone number I can call to have someone guide me through this?

You can follow this guide:
If you need to factory reset the Chromecast device:
While the Chromecast is plugged into the TV and powered, press and hold the button on the back of the Chromecast. The LED will start blinking yellow.
When the LED light turns solid white, release the button and the Chromecast will then reset.

So this is the part that I missed. I did not write down this number and now the screen will not reappear again.

I'm really sorry to hear that the Chromecast is giving you so much trouble. If you'd like, you can get a hold of Chromecast Support directly, either by chat or over the phone. You can just go through the prompt to get the phone number.
However, if you'd rather just return the device, it's completely understandable.
Best regards,
Jeran

Unfortunately none of those options work, I tried creating a chat no one ever came on. I tried calling it doesn’t ring, I tried requesting a call and it says unavailable.

That is odd, I went ahead and called the number that was listed for me (1-844-400-2278) and I got a hold of the representative. Were you calling during the normal hours of operation? It should have a button that shows you when agents are available.
I look forward to your response!
Best regards,
Jeran
