From the @GoogleNestTeam and Majd Bakar,

It's been 11 years and over 100 million devices sold, and on the 6th day of August, they discontinued the Chromecast line and thus replacing the Google TV Streamer, which is more powerful and expensive. It was announced on August 6, which then releases on September 24.

*Chromecast (1st Gen) no longer receives software or security updates, because support has ended on April 2023, and Google doesn't provide technical support. This might cause degradation in performance.

Other Chromecast generations/devices will continue to stay operational today and receives software or security updates to this date, even if Google stopped making Chromecasts and sell the remaining inventory until they run out of stock.

This latest blog announces new devices this year.
