Just like many others have posted, I have the same issue on a 5 day old Streamer connected to a Sony TV with a Sonos soundbar. The audio just stops, and the volume can no longer be adjusted either. If I change sources on the TV, the audio is fine and volume can be adjusted. If I change back to the Streamer, it's gone again. Restarting the TV alone does not fix it. Restarting the Streamer DOES fix the issue, but then it happens again a few hours later.
I contacted Google support and confirmed there is no known fix still despite this being reported back in September, so I am returning it.
