Google TV Streamer Issues - When Receive Update?

Bstall20

I’ve had the Google TV Streamer since release and was hoping that since it releasing it would receive new system updates but nothing yet…

Any news on when new we will get new updates to fix all these issues? 2 for example:

- Micro stuttering while watching any content

- Permission reverting back for app special access after a reboot

To add to this, another annoying issue which happens rarely but frustrating is it crashing completely. I keep hoping for system updates to the Google TV Streamer soon.

Hi @Bstall20,

Thank you for reaching out to our community. I’m sorry to hear that you haven’t received new system updates to resolve the microstuttering while watching any content or the permission reverting back for app special access after a reboot. Let me help you with this.

I would like that you can please answer the following questions to gather more information about your case and, in that way, look for the best option for you:

  • Can you tell me what the make and model of your TV is?
  • When did the situation start?
  • Did you connect your Google TV Streamer 4K to your network through WiFi or with an Ethernet cable?
  • Have you ever casted before without any video quality issues?
  • Have you tried using the streaming device on a different TV? Does it show the same behavior?
  • Besides rebooting your streaming device, have you tried another troubleshooting step?

Thank you for your time and attention. I look forward to your response.

Best regards,

Lusvin.

Hi Lusvin,

Thank you for getting back to me and sorry for the slow response.

In response to your questions:

  • Can you tell me what the make and model of your TV is? - Samsung S95B 55” QDOLED
  • When did the situation start? - Since start
  • Did you connect your Google TV Streamer 4K to your network through WiFi or with an Ethernet cable? - currently using Ethernet. Tested Ethernet speeds and get 900 mbps (have 1GB internet)
  • Have you ever casted before without any video quality issues? - I have an iPhone so cannot cast
  • Have you tried using the streaming device on a different TV? Does it show the same behavior? - It does yes, also bought a brand new HDMI cable which is a Belkin 8K HDMI 2.1 certified cable
  • Besides rebooting your streaming device, have you tried another troubleshooting step? - I have tried multiple power offs and leaving it multiple hours and sometimes I think that helps but over time the issue reoccurs. I have also tried factory resetting my TV which might be extreme but it hasn’t helped, and also factory reset the Google TV streamer which also hasn’t helped. I’ve had the Apple TV 4K which never had issues like this…

Hi @Bstall20,

Thank you for your reply, answering all the questions. This information is really helpful to handle your case.

In this situation, I cannot give a specific date for a system update, but I can definitely assure you that work is already underway on future updates to improve the performance of the Google TV streamer and fix different types of concerns like this one.

In the meantime, let’s try the following steps to troubleshoot your device and try to look for a solution on it.

  • Disconnect from the streaming device, then recast
  • Close any resource-intensive apps that are open.
  • Reboot the streaming device.
  • Reboot the WiFi router.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Best regards,

Lusvin.
